Blackboard Collaborate

Blackboard Collaborate is a web-conferencing tool that instructors may use to facilitate class, hold office hours, provide demonstrations, etc.  Please see below for some tips, tricks, and links that can help get you started.

Your instructor will let you know how to access a Collaborate session while in Blackboard, or they will provide you with a link.  In most courses, you can access an available session by clicking on "Tools" in the menu of your course. Next choose "Blackboard Collaborate". When a session is available, it will be listed on this page.

 Technical Requirements and Recommendations

Collaborate Ultra
Audio Recommendation
  • A headset with a built-in microphone is highly recommended.
  • In a pinch, regular headphones or earbuds will work as long as you have a microphone connected to your computer. Most current laptops and external webcams have a built-in microphone.
  • While we cannot make specific purchase recommendations, based on experience, Logitech headsets seem to work well with Collaborate.
Video Recommendation
  • A webcam must be connected to your computer to use the video functionality.
  • Most current laptops have built-in webcams. If you use a desktop computer, you can purchase an external webcam.
  • While we cannot make specific purchase recommendations, based on experience, Logitech webcams seem to work well with Collaborate.
